Why I Started This - By the Founder of Mindset & Moments

Updated: 5 days ago

We always hear the stories of professional athletes—the comebacks, the buzzer-beaters, the trophies. But what about the next ones up?

What about the 10-year-old who finally found their voice on the court? The teenager battling pressure and self-doubt?The young adult trying to hold it together in the weight room—and in life?

What about the everyday greats? The ones still becoming who they are.The ones showing up before the spotlight ever finds them.

That’s why I started Mindset & Moments.

This isn’t just a space for athletes—it’s a space for the next generation and the everyday greats. A place where stories are heard, honored, and felt. Where people can read something that sounds like them and reminds them they’re not alone.

Running Hoops413 has changed my life. I’ve watched kids fall in love with the game, wrestle with insecurity, and grow in bold faith. These moments—often unseen and overlooked—are everything. They inspire us, show us what’s possible, and deserve to be shared.

Because sometimes, you need a good story to feel less alone.Sometimes, you need to know someone else gets it.

We’ve all felt the pressure. The doubt. The fear of failing. But in those moments, we’re not alone—we’re part of a community that understands, grows together, and keeps showing up.

Basketball has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. These days, I get to pass that love on to kids—teaching them, growing with them, and watching their stories unfold. But I've also walked through mental battles and spiritual darkness. I've questioned my purpose. I've wondered if God even heard me.

And in those moments, I found Him the most.

Not because I figured it all out—but because I finally stopped trying to. God was always there. Sometimes letting me fail, sometimes letting me fall—because those moments became the lessons that built me. The kind of lessons I now get to pass on to others

I remember one moment clearly: I was walking through something heavy. Andy Mineo had just dropped a song called Shame. The hook hit me like a flood—"Jesus washes away all my sins."

I went to see him live, but I got there late. Half the concert had already passed. But God had it timed.

The second I walked in, Andy stepped on stage and performed that song.

At that moment, I surrendered. Fully.

And I knew God saw me. Not for what I had done—but for who I could become.

That moment changed everything.

Mindset & Moments is for athletes.

But it's also for families. Coaches. Kids who've never picked up a ball and adults who've forgotten what they used to love. It's a space for the stories in between the box scores.

It's about the moment your lungs felt like fire, your knees shook, and your breath was the only sound you could hear.

It's about the whispered prayer in the hallway.

The faith to take the shot anyway.

The belief that your story matters.

Because it does.

This isn't just for believers in faith. It's for everyone walking through the silent battles. It's a light. A mirror. A voice. A reminder that you're not alone.

To the athletes and anyone who feels unseen:

You are seen.

You are heard.

You are valued.

You are more than your performance. Your worth isn't measured by wins or losses, by stats or scores. You are valued for who you are, for your journey, for the person you're becoming.

Wins and losses fade. Stats disappear.

But your identity isn't built on what you achieve—it's built on who you are becoming.

Play hard. Compete with fire. But never forget:

Your value doesn't rise and fall with the scoreboard.

That truth?

It will carry you through the highs and lows. The injuries. The pressure.

And every moment when no one else is cheering.

Welcome to Mindset & Moments.
